Recovering Your Google Gmail Password

Step 1 -Visit the Gmail homepage

Go to the Gmail Homepage by entering www.gmail.com into your web browser Next, enter your mobile number or email address to continue.

Step 2 – Locate the “forgotten password” link

Step 3 – Account recovery

Option 1: Jog Your Memory

You will be presented with a page entitled, ‘account recovery‘. You will be asked to enter the last password you remember using. If you can remember it, enter it and press next, then follow the instructions on screen. You should get to a point where you can reset your password or answer a memorable word to gain access to your account. If you don’t know you last password, then press the try another way link at the bottom.

Option 2: Receive Device Notification

If you press ‘try another way’, you will be presented with another option. Below you can see the option to retrieve your password by receiving a unique code notification to your associated mobile device. The notification will be appear on your phone as long your associated mobile device is connected to the internet. Once you receive the code you should be able to use it to gain access to your account. If you do not recognise the associated mobile device or don’t have it with you, or it is not connected to the internet, then press the try another way link at the bottom.

Option 3: Receive Unique Code

If you press ‘try another way’, you will be presented with another option. Below you can see the option to retrieve your password by receiving a unique code  to your associated mobile device either as an sms text message or an automated phone call. Select the most suitable option for you. Once you receive the code you should be able to use it to gain access to your account. editors note: Standard rates apply suggests that if your mobile phone provider charges you a fee to receive the sms text message or phone call that the charge will be your standard rate. If you don’t pay for receiving calls or sms text messages, then you have nothing to worry about. If you do not recognise the associated mobile device number shown or don’t have it with you, then press the try another way link at the bottom.

Option 4: Verification Code Sent To Email

If you press ‘try another way’, you will be presented with another option. Below you can see the option to retrieve your password by receiving a unique code  to your associated alternative email address. This address would have most likely been asked for when you created your account or at random times when you logged in some time in the past. Once you receive the code you should be able to use it to gain access to your account. If you do not recognise the associated email address shown or don’t have access to it anymore, then press the try another way link at the bottom.

Option 5: Google Personality Test

If you press ‘try another way’, you will be presented with another option. Below you can see the option to retrieve your password by answering some questions about your account . These questions would have most likely been asked for when you created your account. Once you receive the code you should be able to use it to gain access to your account. You should get to a point where you can reset your password and gain access to your account. If you do not know the answer to the question below then press the try another way link at the bottom.

Option 6: Any Email You Have Access To

If you press ‘try another way’, you will be presented with another option. Below you can see the option to retrieve your password by entering an email address that you do have access to. Once you enter it follow the instructions on the screen. If this option is not ideal once more, then press the try another way link at the bottom.

Step 4 – Finally, inaccessibility notification

Unfortunately if you see the screen below that would mean Google gmail has been unable verify that you are the true owner of the account you are trying to access. And that’s it!
